THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Centre has slashed the allocation of power to Kerala from its generating stations outside the State by 75 MW from Sunday. This development is likely to put the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) in difficulties. Daily power consumption has gone beyond the 50-million-unit mark in the State because of the sweltering heat and the IPL matches. To satisfy the high demand, the KSEB has been drawing more electricity than it could from its hydro power stations. The reservoirs in the State now hold water sufficient to generate only around 17 million units daily till the arrival of the monsoon. The KSEB had, recently, been generating upwards of 20 million units from its power stations.
