Magesh Chandran holds leader Areshchenko

MUMBAI: Indian Grandmasters P. Magesh Chandran, Koneru Humpy and Deepan Chakkravarthy (eight points each), drew with black pieces in the tenth and penultimate round against reputed rivals at the second Mumbai Mayor’s Cup international Open chess tournament here on Friday. GM Alexander Areshchenko of Ukraine leads with 8.5 points

Magesh, who engaged Areshchenko on the top board, appeared in control before the leader agreed to a point split on the 78th move.
