Mixed luck for Praneetha

MYSORE: C.S. Praneetha of Tamil Nadu had mixed fortunes as she won the girls’ under-12 singles title but had to rest content with the runner-up tag in the under-14 event in the AITA Talent series tennis tournament which concluded at the PET courts in Mandya on Friday.

Third-seeded Kavya N. Kumar of Karnataka won the girls’ under-14 title defeating Praneetha 3-6, 7-5, 6-3.

However, Praneetha came back to win the under-12 title defeating Prerana Kalwar of Karnataka 6-2, 6-3.

Mohit Reddy of Karnataka won the boys’ under-12 title defeating State-mate C. Vasisht 6-2, 6-2.

The results (finals):

Boys, under-12 singles: Mohit Reddy bt C. Vasisht 6-0, 6-2.

Girls: Under-14: Kavya N. Kumar bt C.S. Praneetha (TN) 3-6, 7-5, 6-3.

Under-12: C.S. Praneetha bt Prerna Kanwar 6-2, 6-3. — Our Correspondent
