Indian men’s recurve team in final

KOLKATA: The Indian men’s recurve team made it to the final of the archery World Cup Stage II at Porec, Croatia, on Friday.

Going into the meet as the top seed, Jayanta Talukdar, Rahul Banerjee and Mangal Singh Champia, ensured the elimination of Italy in the semifinals with a score of 225-220. India will come up against Russian Federation in the final on Saturday.

The Indian women’s team, comprising L. Bombayla Devi, Rimil Buriuly and Dola Banerjee, lost to France in the semifinals 206-209 and was relegated to play for the bronze medal against Ukraine.

The men’s team easily beat Slovakia 224-193 in the first round and in the quarterfinals overcame the U.S. 227-218.

Indian teams failed to make any impact in the compound section bowing out in the quarterfinal stage. – Special Correspondent
