Krishna is champion

HYDERABAD: C.R.G. Krishna of Hyderabad with 8.5 points won the A2H all-India FIDE-rating chess tournament here on Friday.

In the final round, Krishna outwitted V.A.V. Rajesh to clinch the title. while the latter finished second with eight points. Mr. K. Satyanarayana, joint secretary, Vignana Jyothi, gave away the prizes.

Final placings: 1. C.R.G. Krishna 8.5 pts, 2. V.A.V. Rajesh 8 pts, 3. L. Sandeep Naidu 8 pts, 4. K.S. Anand Reddy 8 pts, 5. Ch. Sahajasri 8 pts.

Big win for OU

Osmania University blanked Young Hyderabad 10-0 in the A-2 Division hockey league championship at Gymkhana Grounds here. The winner led 5-0 at the break.

Centre-forward Kushwant Singh and left-in Santosh scored three goals apiece while left-half L. Kiran netted a brace while right-out Jai Chandra and right-in Sai Kiran scored one goal each.

Earlier, a one minute silence was observed in memory of Alexander, former AGORC player, who passed away.
