West Bengal defeats Assam

Margao: West Bengal scored a solitary goal victory over Assam in the quarterfinal league of the 18th under-21 National football championship for the Dutta Ray Trophy here on Friday.

The all-important goal was scored in the 84th minute through a penalty by substitute Mithun Saha.

With this win, Bengal opened its account with three points after it lost its first match against Mizoram. Assam, which lost both its matches, is out of the competition. — PTI
