Waugh hopes Knight Riders will turn the tide

KOLKATA: The former Australian captain Steve Waugh hoped that Kolkata Knight Riders would soon be getting good results in the Indian Premier League-II. Waugh, who regularly visits the city to aid his charity programme at Udayan (a centre for the children of leprosy sufferers), said that the side representing the city in IPL and owned by Shah Rukh Khan has enough talent and resilience.

“It is evident in the presence of its iconic player Sourav Ganguly,” he said.

“Ganguly is a resilient cricketer and can bounce back anytime to lift his side’s fortunes. After all, nothing can be predicted in cricket,” Waugh said.

He also praised the present captain Brendon McCullum saying he was a good choice as captain. Waugh also stood by Knight Riders’ Director of Cricket Operations and his former coach John Buchanan, who has come under criticism following the team’s poor showing in the tournament. — Principal Correspondent
