TIRUCHI: The Director of Competitions, All India Football Federation (AIFF), Anil Kamath has expressed satisfaction over the condition of the football ground at St. Joseph’s College, the venue for the cluster matches and a pre-quarterfinal encounter of the National football championship for the Santosh Trophy later this month. “Grass has to be grown in a few parts in the playing area and rolling work has to be carried out to level some areas in the field,” Mr. Kamath said here on Tuesday. ‘Expedite work’He urged the Tiruchi District Football Association officials to fulfil the requirements before the next inspection scheduled for the middle of this month. He wanted shifting of the dressing room to a nearby building with toilet facility, for the convenience of players during breaks. “Also the existing dressing room was upstairs and hence inconvenient to the players,” said AIFF referees’ instructor Ravi Shankar, who accompanied Mr. Kamath. The TDFA secretary P. Ukramakali said that steps had been taken to expedite the work and ensure smooth conduct of the tournament.
