Water contamination: Naidu demands probe

HYDERABAD: Telugu Desam president N. Chandrababu Naidu has expressed shock over the death of five persons following consumption of contaminated water at Bholakpur in the city. He demanded a thorough probe into the incident and stringent action against those responsible.

Mr. Naidu, who is abroad, ascertained details of the incident from party leaders through telephone.

Relief work

He told local TDP cadre and leaders to take up relief work. He demanded better medicare to the victims and ex gratia to the victims’ families. The tragedy would not have taken place had the government taken precautionary measures following complaints from locals.

The absence of any preventive action was a reflection of its functioning.

The statement of Collector Naveen Mittal that illness was not due to water contamination, even while the Chief Minister’s Office said to the contrary showed his “irresponsibility”, Mr. Naidu stated.
