Parties condemn the incident

HYDERABAD: The Communist Party of India (CPI) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) condemned the incident of severe water contamination that took place at Bholakpur, here on Tuesday. Leaders of the parties, who visited the Gandhi, Niloufer, Osmania and other government hospitals, where victims were admitted blamed the Hyderabad Metro Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) for the incident.

Both the parties alleged that there was complete lack of action from the side of Water Board despite several representations by the basti residents on ongoing water contamination and possible public health disaster.

They demanded the government for a full-fledged investigation into the incident and an appropriate action against the responsible officials.

A compensation of Rs. 5 lakh for the deceased and Rs. 2 lakh for the hospitalised was also demanded.

Meanwhile, the APCC has demanded that government pay an ex gratia of Rs. 5 lakh to the kin of each deceased and sanction the medical expenses for those who were hospitalised.
