Rs. 2 lakh ex gratia to the family members of those who died David Raj, HMWSSB Divisional Manager, Bholakpur, suspended HYDERABAD: GHMC Additional Commissioner (Planning & Projects), Neetu Prasad, will probe into the Bholakpur incident and submit the report within three days, Minister for Backward Classes Welfare, M. Mukesh Goud, told reporters here on Tuesday. He said the committee would enquire into the reasons leading to the incident and also recommend to the Government on the steps to be taken for preventing such incidents in future. “Action would be initiated against the erring officials after the report is submitted,” he said. Meanwhile, a decision has also been taken to replace the water pipeline costing Rs. 42 lakhs immediately. Tender was called to replace this pipe but no one came forward, he said. Mr. Goud said Rs. 2 lakh ex-gratia would be given to the family members of those who died after consuming polluted water. He said the deaths of Mohd. Amal (4) and Tayyaba Tarunnum (14) have been confirmed so far while probe is on into the death of Osman (65) and Feroz (7). He opined that the tanneries in the area were responsible for pollution but was non-committal on their removal. But a decision on shifting or providing better facilities would be taken after the Committee submits its report. Meanwhile, David Raj, HMWSSB Divisional Manager, Bholakpur, has been suspended based on the complaints received from the local people. The Health and Family Welfare Minister, Vanama Venkateshwara Rao said that water supply has been stopped and tankers are being sent to the area to meet the requirements and supply through tankers would continue for 15 days. He said people admitted in the hospitals were safe and they would be discharged by tomorrow evening. A control room with 10 teams of doctors has been set up to attend to the patients in need. Hospitals have also been asked to keep extra beds for emergency needs.
