Expressing anguish: Praja Rajyam president K. Chiranjeevi at the Gandhi Hospital after meeting the patients who were admitted after drinking contaminated water at Bholakpur.
HYDERABAD: Praja Rajyam president K. Chiranjeevi on Tuesday accused the government of failing to ensure supply of potable drinking water to residents of Bholakpur.
Speaking to mediapersons after calling on the patients, including children who were admitted to the Gandhi Hospital after drinking contaminated water, he demanded that the government pay an ex gratia to the families of the deceased. Mr. Chiranjeevi went around the paediatric ward and inquired about the health condition of children.
Police had a tough time to control the crowds at the hospital and a stampede-like situation prevailed at the main entrance with hospital staff, mediapersons and attendants jostling for space to speak to him. Police, however, used mild force to ward-off the crowd.
