Anil Bara, Pushpender star for ESIC

NEW DELHI: A goal each by Anil Bara and Pushpender Kundu helped Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) to a 2-0 victory over Delhi Administration in a group ‘II’ senior division preliminary league match of the Chief Minister’s Cup DSA institutional football league at the Ambedkar Stadium here on Tuesday.

ESIC took its tally to six points from two matches, and Delhi Administration was yet to open its account after two matches.

IFSM’s sports medicine

The Indian Federation of Sports Medicine (IFSM) will organise an international congress on sports medicine, Sports Medcon 2009, here from November 6 to 8. There will be pre-congress courses on November 5 and 6. The congress is being organised by the IFSM in collaboration with the organising Committee for the 2010 Commonwealth Games, the Sports Authority of India and the Indian Olympic Association, among others. Rashid in lead

Rashid Khan carded a six-under 66 to take a four-stroke lead after the first round of the LG Haryana Open Amateur at the Golden Greens Golf and Country Club at Gurgaon.

The scores: Rashid Khan (66); Karan Vasudeva and Aditya Bhandarkar (70); Tarun Ghogale and Suryavijay Singh (71); Arjun Chugh and Arshdeep Tiwana (72); S.K. Lakra, Manav Das, Gagan Verma and Pawan Kumar (73); Jasjeet Singh, Sher Ali and Akshay Butta (74).

Divedi shines

Eklavya Divedi smashed an unbeaten 81 to help Sonnet Club score a comfortable nine-wicket victory over Food Corporation of India (FCI) in the final of the 25th Laxman Dass Chhabra memorial cricket tournament at the St. Stephen’s ground here.

The scores: FCI 141 in 34.1 overs (Ankit Rawat 30, Praveen Gupta three for 25) lost to Sonnet Club 143 for one in 20.4 overs (Eklavya Divedi 81 not out, Radhey Shyam Gupta 41).

Manju included

N.S. Manju’s return to the national team camp marked the list of 27 released by the All India Football Federation here on Tuesday. The players will attend the camp at Delhi from June 22 to July 7. A combination of injury and poor form had cost Manju a place in the Indian team after the SAF Cup in Male and Colombo. He had done well in the Nehru Cup last year.

Following are the players for the senior camp: Goalkeepers: Arindam Bhattacharya, Subrata Paul and Subhashish Roy Choudhary. Defenders: Govin Singh, Gourmangi Singh, Mahesh Gawli, Samir Naik, Surkumar, Anwar, Deepak Mondal, NS Manju, Mohanraj and Rakesh Masih. Midfielders: Anthony Pereira, Clifford Miranda, Climax Lawrence, Meharjuddin Wadoo, Syed Rahim Nabi, Renedy Singh, Baldip Singh, Jagpreet Singh, NP Pradeep and Steven Dias. Forwards: Sunil Chettri, Sushil Singh, Baichung Bhutia and Abhishek Yadav.

Pradeep, Vaibhav sizzle

Pradeep Rahil (88) and Vaibhav Kumar (five for 33) guided Vidya Jain Academy to a 57-run victory over Winsom Club in the Rajesh Peter memorial cricket tournament at the Bharti College ground here.

The scores: Vidya Jain 270 for eight in 40 overs (Pradeep Rahil 88, Mannat Vir Singh 45, Ishvinder Singh 40, Sandeep Bagga three for 32) bt Winsom Club 213 for nine in 40 overs (Rohit Dubey 70, Vaibhav Kumar five for 33).
