BTC not to host Invitation Cup
BANGALORE: Bangalore Turf Club has scotched speculation it will host the Invitation Cup races at Bangalore.
The secretary of BTC, Nirmal Prasad, told The Hindu, “We discussed the issue at our meeting last Sunday, but it was decided that BTC would not play host due to the fact that it was not our official turn. Our turn comes only in 2013. Secondly the weather during July-August is not conducive to good racing as it will be the monsoon here. Also, we have not been able to find a sponsor.”
It may be recalled that there was speculation that the Invitation Cup might be shifted to Bangalore as RWITC, which was originally scheduled to conduct the event at Mumbai, decided against it as the racing season in Mumbai began late due to equine flu. — Special Correspondent
