‘Make micro insurance affordable’

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority (IRDA) chairman J. Harinarayan on Monday underscored the need to make micro insurance more affordable to the poor.

The policy prescriptions on this sector should consider the business interests of private insurers as well, he said, inaugurating an education training programme on micro insurance put together by the New Delhi-based Sa-Dhan here. Mr. Harinarayan said that affordability was a key factor when it came to sector policies on health. Only when they were designed with lesser premium would it lead to greater awareness among people.
