Gayle arrives in London

LONDON: West Indies captain Chris Gayle arrived in England on Monday morning two days before the first Test starting at Lord’s on Wednesday.

Gayle has been playing for Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League.

West Indies coach John Dyson told a news conference at Lord’s on Monday that Gayle had flown into London in the morning.

“He’s practising this afternoon,” Dyson said.

Dyson said fast bowler Fidel Edwards, who has also been playing in the IPL, had arrived on Sunday.

“It’s not an issue, we just have to work with that,” he said. “Our board considered an extra day or two didn’t matter. Chris is a big match player, he handles the pressure.” — Reuters
