MYSORE: The former National under-14 champion, K. Vijay Keerthi of SJCE, drew his last round match against P.V. Srinivas of Hassan and claimed the title with nine points from 10 rounds in the State-level Open chess tournament conducted by the Mysore District Chess Association (MDCA) here on Sunday. M.P. Ajith of Mysore, R. Sridhar of Bangalore and P.V. Srinivas tied with 8.5 points each. Based on progressive scores, Ajith, Srinivas and Sridhar took the second, third and fourth places respectively. Final placings: 1. K. Vijay Keerthi (9 pts.); 2. M.P. Ajith (8.5); 3. P.V. Srinivas (8.5); 4. R. Sridhar (8.5); 5. Y.G. Vijendra (8); 6. Kedar Umesh Vaze (8); 7. Gavi Siddayya (8); 8. D.B. Varun (8); 9. L. Vivekananda (8); 10. Sanjit Saha (8). Other winners: Girls: under-7: Ojasi Gopalakrishna; Under-9: V. Sharanya; Under-11: H.R. Manasa; Under-13: B.N. Gangamma; Under-15: Harshitha V.
