An apology

The Hindu regrets the publication in the issue dated February 25, 2008, of a report quoting the police as saying that “the occupants” of a car involved in a tragic accident “were under the influence of alcohol”. We have been informed that the post-mortem report on Anirudh Rawat, who was killed in the accident, has confirmed that there was no trace of alcohol in his body. We apologise to the parents and family of Anirudh Rawat for publishing wrong information, which has caused them distress.

Editor-in-Chief,

The Hindu
