Chennai: The Indian squad for the ICC World Twenty20 cricket championship, beginning in England from July 5, is likely to be announced on Monday. May 5 is the deadline for naming the teams. India is the defending champion, having triumphed in the inaugural event in South Africa (2007). Left-arm paceman Rudra Pratap Singh, among the leading wicket-takers in the on-going Indian Premier League, and all-rounder Abhishek Nair are contenders for a place in the team. They were not a part of the Indian squad for the two-match Twenty20 series in New Zealand earlier this year – Special Correspondent
