Pathanamthitta triumphs

PATHANAMTHITTA: Host Pathanamthitta overcame Malappuram 25-20 to win the boys’ title in the State sub-junior handball championships at the Mullappilly public stadium here on Sunday.

Lijo Sacria (10 goals) and Alex (9 goals) did the bulk of scoring for the winner. Thrissur defeated Kozhikode 20-13 to take the third spot in the boys’ section.

Kannur took the girls title, defeating Kollam 19-10 in the final. Jisha (seven goals) was the star performer for Kannur. Thiruvananthapuram defeated Kozhikode 9-3 to finish third in girls section.
