MANJERI: Kottayam beat Thrissur 61-44 to lift the title in the State junior basketball championship at the GBHSS court on Saturday night. After both teams were level (26 each) at half-time, Basil Philip led the Kottayam’s charge in the third quarter and finished as the top-scorer with 33 points. Twins Nandu Das and Chandu Das (11 points each) complemented Basil Philip well. Amit Sebastian and Shebin Shamshuddin (16 points each) did the bulk of scoring for the loser.
