Easy for DYSS Mandya

BANGALORE: Debutants DYSS Mandya began on a brisk note to defeat PPC 56-4 in the girls’ section of the State sub-junior basketball championship here on Saturday.

Harshitha (16) and Appoorva (10) did the bulk of the scoring for the Mandya girls.

Beagle and IBBC boys, trailing at the halfway stage, put up sterling performances in the third and fourth quarters to turn the tables against Pattabhiramanagar SC and National Games Village (NGV) SC.

All the winners advanced to the second round.

Boys: JSC 38 (Samran 12) bt YMMA 2; IBBC 30 (Vishal 12) bt NGV Sports Club 26 (Adish 11, Bharath 11); Southern Blues 20 bt Ambedkar SC 9; Pattabhiramnagar SC 41 (Rakshit 12) bt PPC 17; Rovers (Dharwad) 39 bt Appaiah BC 8; Beagles 40 (Rajeshwar 13., Nitin 10) bt Pattabhiramnagar 31 (Nishant 9).
