Atharva holds Ukraine GM

MUMBAI: Atharva Godbole (1793) managed a draw against Ukraine Grandmaster Yaroslav Zinchenko (2533) in the opening round of the second Mayors Cup international chess tournament at the Goregaon Sports Club here on Friday.

The Pune youngster was the only player to force a draw as 18 other Grandmasters, including India’s top-ranked Koneru Humpy, won their first round matches.
