BANGALORE: ISRO finished its ‘A’ division football league engagements on a winning note here on Thursday. The 2-1 margin that ISRO eked out against Students Union ensured it finished with 23 points on top of the league table ahead of Dharmaraja Union. Dharmaraja Union and DYSH will clash on Saturday and if Dharmaraja Union wins, ISRO will finish second best. DYSH is in the third place with 19 points from 10 matches. Suman (31st) and Khaja (39th) scored for ISRO while Philips netted Students Unions’ lone goal in the 46th. In the Super Division, MEG and HAL scored contrasting victories. While MEG edged past ASC by a solitary penalty goal scored by Suraj Singh in the 82nd minute, HAL overcame Southern Blues 4-1. Suraj Singh was fouled inside the box by ASC’s Tudu and referee G. Suresh Kumar pointed to the ‘spot’ from and Suraj made no mistake. In controlHAL in complete control of the proceedings scored through Fredrick (13th), Satish Kumar Jr. (34th), Xavier Vijaykumar (72nd) and Nitin Singh (78th) while Ashok struck a beautiful goal for Southern Blues in the 50th minute. HAL continues to enjoy a sole lead at the top with 29 points from 11 matches while MEG has 21 from nine. — Special Correspondent
