Prem, Dharani clinch titles

Coimbatore: Prem Siddharth and R. Dharani clinched the under-17 titles for boys and girls respectively in the district-level schools chess tournament, jointly organised by the Coimbatore East Rotary, Coimbatore East Ladies Inner Wheel Club and the Coimbatore District Sports and Games Welfare Association, at the Geetha Hall recently.

Final standings:

Boys: U-8: 1. Suraj Jagadeesan (Little Kingdom); 2. Naren (Sulur Air Force); 3. Rogith (Perks MHSS). U-11: 1. Sameer (Lisieux); 2. Rupesh Kumar (Kikani); 3. Chokkalingam (Kendriya Vidyalaya). U-14: 1. Arudhra Ganesh (GD MHSS); 2. Bhagavanth Kausic (St. Joseph’s); 3. Arun Kumar (SBOA). U-17: 1. Prem Siddharth; 2. V.S. Rathinavel; 3. A.P. Arjun Kumar (SBOA).

Girls: U-8: 1. Elakkiya (Suguna Pips); 2. Sanmathi; 3. Aprose (Vidya Niketan). U-11: 1. Jasper Jyothi (Vidya Vikasini); 2. Agarshika (Vidya Niketan); 3. Janani (St. Antony’s). U-14: 1. Sanmathi (Sam MS); 2. Pavithra (KVM); 3. Madhu Mithra (GVG). U-17: 1. R. Dharani; 2. C.M. Sruthi Rajan; 3. S. Sneka.

Selection trials

Sri Krishna Arts and Science College will conduct a selection trial for its men’s volleyball team at the College courts on May 7 and 8.

The selected players will be given free education, boarding and lodging and other concessions as well.
