Gajuwaka, ECoRSA in final

VISAKHAPATNAM: All-round shows by V. Manoj Sai and G. Shankara Rao helped their respective teams, Gajuwaka Greens and East Coast Railway Sports Association (ECoRSA), enter the final of VDCA’s first division clubs league here on Thursday.

Manoj Sai scored an unbeaten century (113, 4x9, 2x6) and with N. Behara (60 not out) added 158 for the unbeaten fourth wicket in the team’s seven-wicket win over Visakhapatnam Port Sports Council. Earlier he picked up three wickets as VPSC made 197.

Shankara Rao scored a fine half-century in ECoRSA’s total of 274 for four.

The scores: Visakhapatnam Port Sports Council 197 in 49 overs (A. Sriram 50, Radhakrishna 33, Md. Basha 30, N. Syam Sundar 27, V. Manoj Sai three for 55) lost to Gajuwaka Greens 201 for three in 36.1 overs (V. Manoj Sai 113 n.o., N. Behara 62 n.o.).

East Coast Railway Sports Association 274 for four in 50 overs (Madhusudhan 81, Narendra Kumar 71 n.o., G. Shankara Rao 56) bt County C.C. 195 in 42.4 overs (P. Singh 53, Harish 45, Abhishek 27, G. Shankara Rao five for 49, Narendra Kumar three for 60).

Hockey trials

The Vizag Women’s Hockey Association will conduct trials at the Rajiv Gandhi stadium, Elamanchili, on May 2 to select the district junior team. Those born on or after January 1, 1990, are eligible. Interested have to report to coach June Gallyot at the venue with age proof certificates. — Special Correspondent
