Rakesh on song

PALAKKAD: Kerala Ranji star K.J. Rakesh hit an unbeaten 71 as BPCL Kochi Refinery (Ernakulam) thrashed Masters CC (Thiruvananthapuram) by eight wickets and entered the semifinals of the K.H. Syed Ali Memorial all-Kerala cricket tournament at the Fort Ground here on Thursday.

In another match, P.V. Anthaf’s four-wicket haul helped Muthoot ECC (Ernakuklam) defeat Kids (Thiruvananthapuram) by two wickets and enter the quarterfinals.

The scores: Quarterfinals: Masters CC (Thiruvananthapuram) 135 for six in 30 overs (Monish 34, V.S. Shiju 42) lost to BPCL Kochi Refinery (Ernakulam) 136 for two in 26.4 overs (K. J. Rakesh 71 n.o., P.M. Jineesh 34).

Pre-quarterfinals: Kids CC (Thiruvananthapuram) 154 for eight in 30 overs (Anjith 49, Sachin 29, P.V. Anthaf four for 35) lost to Muthoot ECC (Ernakulam) 155 for eight in 29.2 overs (Ajay Jayakumar 37, Unni Krishnan 32, Anoop three for 18). — Principal Correspondent
