THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Drinking water can be distributed at 20 paise a litre through a scientific approach, along with people’s participation, says executive chairman of the Confederation of NGOs of Rural India N. Balagopal. He said this at a meeting of representatives of NGOs organised in connection with the setting up of 100 drinking water schemes in the State over two years. The schemes would be implemented with funds from a Delhi-based organisation and with the active participation of local bodies and NGOs, a press note said. Rajan Duliya, marketing manager of the Delhi-based organisation, said a water station that provided a litre of water at 20 paise could be set up with an investment of Rs.5 lakh.
