Kottayam girls dethrone Kollam
MANJERI: Kottayam girls upset defending champion Kollam 41-22 and entered the semifinals of the State junior basketball championships at the GBHSS court here on Wednesday.
In the boys’ category, Thrissur trounced Thiruvananthapuram 52-16 to move into the semifinals. Kannur beat Wayanad 47-30 to also make the semifinals.
The results (quarterfinals):
Boys: Thrissur 52 (Shebin Shamshudeen 17) bt Thiruvananthapuram 16; Kannur 47 (Ajith 25) bt Wayanad 30 (Vineeth Mohan 21).
Girls: Kottayam 41 (Sona Praji 13, Anila Augustine 11) bt Kollam 22 (Libya Varghese 12); Thrissur 36 (Gireeja Susan Varghese 11) bt Pathanamthitta 7; Ernakulam 50 (M.D.Lisha 24, Akhila 16) bt Kasaragod 27 (Neenu Thomas 13). — Principal Correspondent
