Bahrain: Competing in the final weekend of the GP2 Asia Series at the Bahrain International circuit here, India’s Karun Chandhok, racing for the Ocean Racing Technology team, finished ninth in Race 1 on Saturday. Chandhok, starting from eleventh on the grid, finished just off the eighth and final points-scoring position. Brazilian Diego Nunes, of Team Piquet GP, won Saturday’s race, starting from third on the grid. Japanese driver Kamui Kobayashi, of the Dams team, ensured the drivers championship for the season with his fourth-place finish. On Sunday, Chandhok crashed out of Race 2 in the very first lap, after being involved in a collision that took out five cars. Brazilian Luiz Razia, of the Arden International team, won Sunday’s race, having started on pole, after finishing eighth in Race 1. In GP2, the top 8 from Race 1 are reversed in the Race 2 starting grid. Belgian Jerome d’Ambrosio’s second place finish on Sunday meant that he ended the season in second behind Dams teammate Kobayashi.
