Mumbai: In a mysterious turn to the Anil Ambani chopper sabotage case, the man who spotted pebbles in the fuel tank of the industrialist’s helicopter was found dead on the rail track between Vile Parle and Andheri here on Tuesday evening. “A letter was found on his person,” Government Railway Police (GRP) Commissioner A.K. Sharma told PTI. Borge was among the first to have spotted the fuel cap of the Bell-412 helicopter open on Thursday last and, on inspection, found pebbles and gravel inside, one day before Mr. Ambani was scheduled to go to neighbouring Navi Mumbai. Joint Police Commissioner Rakesh Maria and Additional DGP (Railway Police) K.P. Raghuvanshi said Borge’s death was a case of suicide. Mr. Maria said the motorman and the guard of a fast local saw the victim cross the track even as the train was fast approaching. According to GRP sources, the letter recovered from his person said some “Reliance” people came to see him and questioned him but he did not say anything and that he also felt they would do something to him. It was not clear which of the Reliance groups he was referring to. The letter said he had done nothing wrong and that the investigations into the alleged sabotage were moving on the right track and that the Crime Branch would do a fair job. There were no comments from the Anil Ambani Group, which had alleged that business rivals might be behind an “attempt to murder” the industrialist by trying to sabotage his helicopter. — PTI
