CHENNAI: The Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan will institute a scholarship scheme for students and establish an art gallery and a school of the stream of the Central Board of Secondary Education in Tiruporur as part of its golden jubilee celebration, Sugalchand Jain, vice-chairman of the Bhavan’s Chennai Kendra, said on Sunday. Referring to various other activities planned by the organisation, Mr.Jain said a campaign to popularise Sanskrit among housewives and students of schools and colleges would be carried out. It had been proposed to install a bust of Bhavan’s founder K.M. Munshi at the Chennai Kendra office in Mylapore and Rajaji’s bust at Rajaji Vidyashram in Kilpauk. Steps would be taken for the release of postal cover, he said, releasing the Bhavan’s Golden Jubilee Year report. Inaugurating the celebration, B.N. Srikrishna, vice-president of the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan and former Supreme Court Judge, released a Tamil publication on Sardar Patel. Referring to February 19 incident in the Madras High Court premises, Justice Srikrishna said it was a matter of shame.
