Madurai CPI (M) candidate hospitalised

CHENNAI: The Madurai candidate of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) P.Mohan had an emergency abdominal surgery at Apollo Hospital, Chennai, on Tuesday. He was shifted from Apollo Hospital, Madurai, to Chennai on Tuesday morning.
According to the hospital bulletin, there was a perforation in the small intestine which was closed during surgery.
He will be closely monitored in the critical care unit for the next 3 days.
Meanwhile, in Madurai, CPI (M) sought the support of voters in the constituency for its candidate P. Mohan.
In a statement issued, the party district secretaries, R. Annadurai (urban) and V. Sundaram (rural), have said that the sitting MP on Monday developed stomach ache following intensive campaigning in the constituency since April 17.
