A dig at the Gowdas

At an election rally in Hassan in Karnataka, former Union minister and BJP leader Anantha Kumar said that in Hassan district there are four types of inscriptions on stone. The first two are the inscriptions found in Belur and Halebid; the latest are ‘Devu Kallu’ and ‘Revu Kallu’ that are found all over Hassan district. He went on to explain: ‘Devu Kallu’ refers to foundation stones laid by Mr. Deve Gowda and ‘Revu Kallu’ to foundation stones laid by his son and former minister H. D. Revanna for various projects that did not materialise.
