Modi the mimic

It seems that Gujarat’s fiery Chief Minister has a lighter side to him as well. In this campaign, Narendra Modi has been treating his supporters at rallies around the country to a variety of jokes (most famously, the one about the ‘gudiya’ which admittedly didn’t go down too well with his critics). He was in fine form in Mumbai last Sunday, where the Prime Minister was the subject of his latest comedic critique. “Bachao [save me], Obama, bachao!” Mr. Modi flailed his arms and squeaked, portraying his version of the Prime Minister’s talks with Barack Obama. Not exactly political satire of the highest quality, but it seemed to work well with the Mumbai crowd on Sunday.
