(Clockwise from top left) Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee, Praja Rajyam president Chiranjeevi, AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi, BJP prime ministerial candidate L.K. Advani, Telugu Desam candidate for the Asifnagar Assembly seat D. Nagender, Independent candidate for the Visakhapatnam North Assembly constituency S.M.M.M. Krishna and TDP candidate for the Vijayawada parliamentary constituency Vallbhaneni Vamsi Mohan.

Corrections and Clarifications

In a standalone photograph titled "Election heat - The thirst to win" ("Elections 2009" page, April 29, 2009), D. Nagender was described as the Telugu Desam candidate for the Asifnagar Assembly seat. Mr. Nagender is now the president of the Greater Hyderabad Congress Committee and contested the Khairatabad Assembly segment on a Congress ticket this year. He had contested from the Asifnagar assembly constituency in 2004 on a Telugu Desam ticket and won. He had joined the Telugu Desam after he was denied the ticket by the Congress. However, soon after winning the election he resigned from the Assembly. He then contested in the same Assembly segment on a Congress ticket, but was defeated by the MIM.
