CHENNAI: For ‘Badava’ Gopi, entertaining audience is something that he would always look forward to. And the occasion cannot be better than the fund-raising programme that is to be conducted at Delaware, U.S.A. He would be performing a three-hour entertainment programme for the U.S. audience, organised by Mahalakshmi Devasthanam of Delaware. “The event will be the first of its kind in U.S. Three hours will be packed with stand-up comedies, mimicries, music and dance. Audience can be assured of non-stop entertainment,” he says. The event, to be held on May 2, will begin with his signature performance – mimicking the speeding vehicles. It will be followed by a fast-paced stand-up comedy, his slapstick humour performances and round off with a “special mimicry performance tailor-made for the U.S. audience.” Overseas shows, Mr. Gopi says, have given a great mileage to his career. “It is always initially tricky to strike a rapport with the foreign or NRI audience. But once done, there is no stopping for performers like us. I hope to enthral the audience this time with best of my performances,” he says. Keen observation skills and knack of holding audience’s attention are key attributes for any mimicry performer, he says, adding that every show has been a test of his ability to prove his talent. “I do a meticulous homework before attending even small shows as every audience means a lot to me.”
