Factory gutted

New Delhi: A major fire gutted a footwear factory on Sunday afternoon here but no casualty has been reported.

The fire which broke around 3-45 p.m. engulfed the entire factory located in the Narela Industrial Area in Outer Delhi. “At least 20 fire tenders were deployed and around 100 fire fighters worked to extinguish the fire which had spread to two factories in the Narela Industrial Area in Outer Delhi,” a fire official said.

The fire has been brought under control, the official said adding that a major tragedy has been averted as there was no labourers in the factory at the time of the incident as Sunday was a non-working day. The reasons for the fire and magnitude of the loss is being ascertained, the official added. -- PTI
