Mysore: Third-seeded Varunya Chandrashekar completed a hat-trick of wins in the girls under-14 section this season when she recorded a resounding 6-1, 6-1 win over eighth-seeded Tejaswini Belludi of Karnataka in the final of the AITA talent series event on Thursday. Varunya, an all-courter, compensated for a none-too-strong first serve with her steady ground-strokes and neat placement. Though she was tested a bit in the first couple of games, she found her rhythm quickly and went on to outplay her erratic rival. Suraj in finalSuraj R. Prabodh blasted his way to the finals in both the boys’ under-14 and under-16 events. In the under-14 semifinal, he defeated eighth seeded Nikki Poonacha of Tamil Nadu 1-6, 7-5, 6-1 and in the under-16 semifinals, he beat top-seeded S.D. Prajwal Dev of Karnataka 6-0, 6-4. Second-seeded S. Raghavendra crushed Tamil Nadu’s Nikki Poonacha 6-0, 6-2 to set up a title clash with Suraj. The results: Boys: Under-16: Semifinals: Suraj R Prabodh bt S.D. Prajwal Dev 6-0, 6-4; S.
