BJP regime will check price rise: Ganesan

Special Correspondent

CHENNAI: Bharatiya Janata Party’s State unit president L.Ganesan, who is making his electoral debut from the South Chennai Lok Sabha constituency, on Monday assured the electorate that prices of essential commodities in the open market would be brought down if his party was voted to power at the Centre.

Canvassing in parts of Alwarpet, Mr.Ganesan contended that the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam could only urge the Centre to lower prices if they emerged victorious. “It is the Bharatiya Janata Party alone that can be in a position to effect price reduction directly as it will be heading the future government.”

After worshipping at a roadside Vinayaka temple near the junction of TTK Road-Bharatidasan Road, Mr.Ganesan, who went around Ramasamy Naicken Street, Bheemanna Garden Road and Seethammal Road, told the voters that prices were under control when the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance was in power. They soared after the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance formed the government.

The BJP leader recalled that during the NDA regime, there was no shortage of liquefied petroleum gas connections and the policy of “telecommunication for all” became a reality. A BJP spokesperson said the NDA’s prime ministerial candidate L.K.Advani would visit Chennai shortly for campaigning.
