Viswanathan was to tie the knot with a nurse

TAMBARAM: A 30-year-old woman prevented the second marriage of her husband on Sunday evening, a day before the wedding was to be solemnised.

Adambakkam police said Viswanathan (33) hosted the wedding reception at a marriage hall on Sunday evening and was to get married with a nurse on Monday morning. Even as the reception was in progress, a woman, R.Lakshmi (30), entered the hall and demanded that the ceremony be stopped as she was already married to the groom. There was a commotion in the wedding hall and one of the guests called up the Adambakkam police station. On arrival, the police personnel spoke to both Viswanathan and Lakshmi. While initially Viswanathan was reported to have said he never knew her, he later confessed to having married her after Lakshmi produced their wedding photographs.

Police established that Lakshmi and Viswanathan had got married about a year ago following which the Sunday evening’s ceremony was cancelled. Both Lakshmi and Viswanathan are stage artistes and also models for advertisements, police said.
