Holiday declared

A local holiday has been declared for Tiruchi district on April 24 on account of the Chithirai car festival of the Srirangam Ranganathaswamy Temple. Collector T.Soundiah said that all government offices and educational institutions would remain closed on the day. However, this will not be a public holiday under the Negotiable Instruments Act. Hence, the District Treasury and all sub-treasuries in the district would work with limited staff on the day.

For all other government establishments and educational institutions, May 9 (Saturday) will be a working day in lieu of the local holiday.
