Ticket counter at Dindigul station

In Dindigul Railway junction, the ticket counter is situated near the main entrance adjacent to the subway for passengers.

After the renovation of the station people refer to enter the station through the passage near the first platform rather than coming via the underground passage.

I request the authorities to open a ticket counter or at least to install a platform ticket vending machine at the beginning of the first platform.

M.S. Raghavan,

Dindigul.

Signboards on roads

The signboards on the side of the roads exhibiting information on the approaching places remain defaced with wall posters and advertisements thus defeating the purpose for which they are installed.

Due to this, the road-users get confused without any guidance as to which road they should take to reach their destinations.

To avoid this, the Government should erect high metal or concrete posts on either side of the road and connect the two posts with large board at a higher level exhibiting the places written with reflector paints.

There is no use of laying broad roads without proper guidance to the users.

As the proposed method of installation at a higher level will prevent the sign boards being used for other purpose, such sign boards will be of great help to motorists and public.

Asmabagh Anvardeen,

Ramanathapuram.

More trains to Rameswaram

There is no train service between Rameswaram and Madurai during the day time. There is only one train from Rameswaram early in the morning which reaches Madurai at about 10 a.m. Likewise a train starts at Madurai at about 6 p.m. and reaches Rameswaram at about 10 p.m.

Before the conversion in this section a train popularly known as “School Train”, used to start around 8 a.m. in Rameswaram and reach Madurai around 1.30 p.m.

In the opposite direction it would start around 2 p.m. in Madurai and reach Rameswaram at 8 p.m.

This was stopped after the gauge conversion.

If a day time train is operated in this section, it will be of much help to the commuters and devotees visiting Rameswaram.

Will the Railway authorities resume the school train and more services in this section.

G. Nagasamy,

Ramanathapuram.

Open separate maternity ward

In Paramakudi Government Hospital there is a separate maternity ward functioning along with Paediatric ward.

The number of births is high in Paramakudi tauk, one of the biggest in Ramanathapuram district .

But there is no adequate facility and a separate ward.

I request the authorities to construct a separate ward with 50 beds for maternity.

V. Rajendran,

Paramakudi.
