The Collector said that micro-observers were appointed to monitor sensitive polling stations and additional security would be deployed in these booths. Nearly 700 Government employees were drafted for poll duty and training in handling electronic voting machines (EVMs) were provided to the staff posted at the polling stations.
Dr. Vasanthakumar said that seven checkposts were created at the entry points of Karaikal district from Tamil Nadu and pointed out that round the clock vigil would be ensured during the poll. Mr Upendar Kumar Rai, has been appointed as Central Observer for Karaikal district, he said.
