K. Anbazhagan, general secretary, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, addressing a public meeting in Mathur on Monday. – KRISHNAGIRI: Nobody has been projected as the leader of the Third Front unlike the UPA or the BJP, said K. Anbazhagan, general secretary, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam. here on Monday. He was addressing public meetings at Mathur and Krishnagiri. The Third Front do not know whom they should project as its leader – whether, Jayalalithaa, Mamtaa Banerjee or Mayawati, he said. Taking a dig at the Communist parties, he said they change their stance every five years because they don’t want a stable government at the Centre. Nuclear deal was a necessity for the development of the country, he said and added that the UPA Government proceeded with the deal because it was absolutely necessary for the development of the country. A secular government can be formed at the centre only if secular minded parties win the elections. The meeting was attended by former MP M.V. Vetrichelvan, Congress district secretary S.N. Kasilingam and other alliance party leaders. Earlier in the morning he promised workers of the unorganised sectors that the DMK government would provide free medical insurance scheme. Jayalalithaa, general secretary, All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, changed her stance with regard to the Sri Lankan issue to woo voters in the Lok Sabha elections. During the Assembly elections, she had said that LTTE chief Prabhakaran should be arrested and separate Eezham will affect the sovereignty of Sri Lanka. He was addressing an election campaign meeting near Dharmapuri Bus stand and Harur on Sunday. She had told a campaign meeting that if AIADMK win the election and become part of the Union Government, the Sethu Samudram project would be scrapped, he said adding that the project was a dream scheme of the Tamils and the former Chief Minister C.N. Annadurai. DMK, which was instrumental to the formation of a Congress-led UPA Government at the Centre got 13 Ministers in the Union cabinet. PMK got two important ministries because of the DMK. If Dr. Ramadoss was sincere about helping Tamils in Sri Lanka, he would have asked his son Dr. Anbumani Ramadoss, who was a Union Minister, to do the needful. DMK, which stood for the cause of Sri Lankan Tamils, had observed a fast demanding the Union Government to ask Sri Lankan Government to stop killing of Tamils.V. Mullaivendan, Dharmapuri District (South) district in-charge presided over the meeting in Harur and Dharmapuri. Former Minister T.M. Selvaganapathy, Former MP Theertharaman, VCK leader P.M. Nandan, K. Balakrishnan, district secretary, Congress, K. Kovendan, district secretary, VCK, participated.
