Woman militant among 4 killed

JAMMU: A woman militant was among four killed in a fierce gun battle that raged in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday night with the victims including a self-styled Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) tehsil commander and two security personnel.

The encounter was the second in Doda district in as many days ahead of polls with security personnel killing two militants and their female supporter at Bagla area on Saturday.

Army Chief General Deepak Kapoor said last week that women were being “trained” on the other side of the Line of Control (LoC) to cross over for terror acts. Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Doda-Kishtwar-Ramban range, Himanat Lohia told PTI that on a tip-off, a joint operation was launched by the Army and the police in Gurum-Kashtigarh forest belt of Doda district on Sunday.
