Bodies of Santa Clara shooting victims buried at Ayyankolli

Udhagamandalam: The bodies of three members of a family, shot dead by their relative at Santa Clara in California on March 29, were brought to their home at Ayyankolli near Gudalur on Friday and buried in a common grave.

R. Devaraj (42), a software engineer of Erumadu near Gudalur, shot dead his daughter Megha (4), son Akhil (11), brother-in-law Ashok (35), his wife Suchithra (30) and their daughter Ahana (11 months) at Santa Clara.

He grievously injured his wife Abha before killing himself.

Hewlett Packard, Ashok’s employer, arranged for bringing the bodies of Ashok, Suchithra and Ahana.

A relative told The Hindu here that Abha continued to be in a critical condition at a hospital in the United States. The bodies of Devaraj and his children were yet to be buried.

Thousands of persons from Ayyankolli and surrounding villages gathered before the house of Ashok’s father Appu Master to get a glimpse of the victims.
