Staff Reporter

Tirupur: An iron-rod laden lorry was hijacked at knife point at Uthiyur near here on Thursday evening. Police sources said a gang of four persons who came in a car intercepted the lorry while it was going to Udumalpet from Salem. They then blindfolded the lorry driver and drove him away in the car. He was later released at an isolated place.

Meanwhile, one of the hijackers escaped with the lorry stacked with iron rods. The lorry was later found abandoned at Dharapuram on Friday morning. The iron rods was missing. A special team has been formed to nab the culprits.
