Bangalore: A 26-year-old unemployed youth from Tamil Nadu, who came to the city in search of a job, was stabbed and robbed of his money near the Upparpet police station here on Wednesday. The victim, V. Raja, a native of Krishnapuri in Dharmapuri district, was stabbed and robbed of money by two armed men in front of Tulasi Park, near Upparpet police station. It is alleged that though the victim raised an alarm for help, no policemen rushed to his rescue while the two men escaped with Rs. 2,000. “Raja was working in a hotel in Krishnapuri and came here to find a job in a hotel. He came on Wednesday after collecting Rs. 2,500 as his last month’s salary from the owner,” the police said. Raja had enquired about job openings in several hotels in BTM Layout, Electronics City and other places. As he did not have any friends or relatives, he went to Lalbagh on Wednesday to sleep. However, around 11 p.m. the security staff of the garden sent him out. The victim came to Majestic to catch a bus to his native, the police said. The victim was stabbed with a knife around 11.45 p.m. and he collapsed on the footpath. “Though the police were alerted, they did not attempt to arrest the accused while the victim lay in a pool of blood for nearly 30 minutes,” a few autorickshaw drivers, who informed the Upparpet police, said. When The Hindu contacted the Upparpet police station, the officials refused to comment.
