Cash, goods taken away

Bangalore: A gang of persons entered four commercial establishments in Siddapur by breaking open the doors and decamped with valuables and cash.

According to the police, the gang burgled A.P.G. Infotech, National Trust Housing Finance Corporation, CRS Security and International Constructions on the premises of S.P. Mansion on R.V. Road.

A sum of Rs. 3.5 lakh and laptops, computers and electronic goods worth Rs. 3 lakh were taken away from these establishments. The crime took place between 11.45 p.m. of Wednesday and 4.30 a.m. of Thursday, sources said.

Murder

A fish merchant was found murdered Bismillah Nagar in Mico Layout on Thursday. Five armed men attacked the victim with knives in front of a milk parlour, according to the police. The victim identified as Shoukat died of injuries on the way to hospital. Deputy Commissioner of Police (South East) gave the name of the accused as Ziauddin. He said enmity was the reason for the crime.

Arrested

The Upparpet police have arrested two persons, including an undertrial, who had recently escaped from police custody, and recovered stolen material worth Rs. 2 lakh from them.

The police gave names of the arrested as C.J. Harish Babu (35) of Medikepur in Challakere and H.J. Kumar alias Basava (23) from Amrithur Hobli in Kunigal taluk. Two motorcycles and gold chains were recovered from the accused. The police said the undertrial, Harish Babu, is facing 30 criminal cases. He was arrested and lodged in the Bangalore Central Prison in Parappana Agrahara. Recently, the Shimoga police took him to Shimoga in connection with a case. When he was being brought back to the city, the accused escaped from police custody. Earlier, he has escaped from police custody in Tumkur.

“After escaping, the accused joined Basava and stole two motorbikes in Nagarbavi. We arrested them when they were trying to sell the vehicles,” the police said.

DVDs seized

Officials of the S.J. Park police station raided two shops on S.P. Road on Tuesday and seized porn DVDs, CDs and electronic material worth Rs. 6 lakh.

The police arrested two persons in this connection. They gave their names as Shafi Anvar (38) from 3rd Cross in Chamarajapet and Wasim Ibrahim (23) of 3rd Cross in Shamanna Garden. Raids were conducted on Electronics Plaza on S.P. Road and J.K. Mobile Service on P.R. Lane, the police said.

Held

The Upparpet police have arrested a notorious rowdy Magesh alias Jambu Pandiyan (23) and recovered an idol of goddess, which was stolen from Ayyappa Temple in Cottonpet.

The accused was a resident of ITC Shed on 3rd cross in Akkipet and had allegedly been involved in several criminal cases. Five months back he allegedly murdered a salesman on Goods Shed Road, said the Upparpet police.
